Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico — Baja Boxing proudly announces a high-stakes clash between two of Mexico’s toughest female warriors, as former WBC super flyweight world champion Guadalupe “Lupita” Martinez takes on three-time world title challenger Paulette “Heredera” Cuesta in an eight-round super flyweight bout on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Arena Tecate in Tijuana.
Known for her relentless pressure and veteran grit, Martinez (19-13, 6KO) returns to the ring looking to reignite her championship aspirations. The Mexico City native held the WBC 115-pound world title from 2017 to 2020, defending it successfully four times. She now faces a dangerous challenge in Cuesta, a determined contender hungry for a signature win.
Cuesta (17-, 4KO), from Tijuana, has fought for world titles at 122 pounds and is recognized for her come-forward style. Cuesta is now looking to make a run at a title at her natural weight of 115 pounds and is currently ranked #10 by the WBC and with a win against Martinez will be looking to get ranked in the top 10 by the other sanctioning organizations.
“We’re counting down the days until the fight — a true toss-up, as both fighters are top-level competitors,” Antonio Lozada, CEO of Baja Boxing stated. “”Lupita” is a former world champion, and Paulette has come incredibly close to achieving that herself. With that in mind, we know both are coming in looking to reestablish themselves as contenders for a world title, which adds extra significance to this matchup.”
The event will take place at the newly redesigned Arena Tecate and will feature a full undercard showcasing rising talent from Baja California. The fight card will be broadcast live on the AYM Sports Channel on certain cable providers and the Pluto TV app and on Facebook.com/BajaBoxing and YouTube.com/@bajaboxing.
